About Jorbeer, Bikaner

Jorbeer Conservation Reserve sits on the outskirts of Bikaner (≈12 km). Each winter, thousands of raptors — especially vultures — gather here. We plan low-impact sessions that maximize sightings while keeping respectful distances.

  • Best months: November – February (peak raptor activity and softer light).
  • Likely species: Egyptian, Eurasian (Griffon) & Cinereous Vultures; Steppe & Tawny Eagles, kites.
  • Bring binoculars (8×–10×), a telephoto lens, hat & water; we follow leave-no-trace norms.

Other experiences we cover

Sonkhaliya • Sambhar • Tal Chhapar • DNP (Desert National Park)

Engineer-turned Conservation Guide

Why with Gautam

My Journey – From Engineer to Wildlife Conservationist 🌿

I’m an engineer turned conservation guide in the Thar Desert. For the last decade I’ve wide studied wildlife around Sambhar Lake, Tal Chhapar, Jorbeer, Shokaliya, and Desert National Park. My shift began in childhood near Bikaner’s old dump, watching vultures I once feared until my grandfather called them gentle cleaners.

Years later, working in construction built a lot of roads I don't know how many trees cut down. One day sermon at a Shiv Math struck me: a single tree shelters countless lives.after Realizing the harm.

I left engineering, joined a field group, and start roaming in the desert and worked in that group for the years but that group never promoted my name and I never got my own identity. Then I started working in wildlife on my own and went independent. Today I lead responsible experiences to build empathy, raise awareness, and protect the desert’s creatures and habitats.
